Ways to Jump Start Another Car

If you think that your battery has died because your engine will not start, you can get it going by jump starting it. Use the working engine of another car and a functional set of car jumper cables to get it done.

When both cars are off, hook up the jumper cable ends to the matching battery ends so that the positive and negative parts are aligned. Then, start the working engine to give the dead battery some juice. It will only take about a minute before you can try turning on the other car. It might take multiple tries, but you should not try more than about four times. The cables should not be unhooked before the dead car starts. It should stay on for at least 20 minutes to charge up.

The service department at Putnam Mazda can help you with replacing and installing a new car battery today.
