The Facts: What Is A Powertrain Warranty Vs. Bumper To Bumper Warranty?

Ever wondered what the difference is between warranties on your vehicle? When you come into Putnam Mazda we want you to make the most informed decisions possible regarding your next purchase. So let's clarify.

A powertrain warranty covers all internally lubricated engine parts or any part that contributes to the propulsion of the automobile. These warranties are often longer in duration (like 3 years and 100k miles for example).

A bumper-to-bumper warranty sometimes called a comprehensive warranty, is usually shorter in duration (like 1 year and 50k miles for example) and covers a bit more than just the necessary engine components. With bumper-to-bumper, you will have less worry about needing to replace electrical components such as the audio system, or chassis components like a suspension strut. One thing to keep in mind is that every warranty is different and you should be aware of what's covered on the one you are purchasing. And don't forget, if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!
