Mazda Brings Special Edition MX-5 Miata to Chicago

Call us nostalgic, but Putnam Mazda believes that there's something nice about respecting tradition within the automotive industry. Apparently, so does Mazda. Since the Mazda MX-5 Miata first zoom-zoomed out onto the scene at the 1989 Chicago Expo, the automaker has made special effort to keep rolling out MX-5 Miata installments at the same location. As we hinted at earlier, for the newest Mazda roadster offering, this custom will not change.

Available in a sporty red or pearly white, the 2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition will take the stage at the upcoming 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Like any…

Mazda Expands Its European Market

When you think about Mazda vehicles, you probably don't envision Scotland. People would be more likely to envision Putnam Mazda in Burlingame, where they can go for their California Mazda test drive.

Last year, the first Scottish Mazda dealer opened in Edinburgh, near Murrayfield International Rugby Stadium. Dealer group Eastern Western spent 10 years trying to get Mazda going in their homeland. Eastern Western's location is now one of the top three Mazda dealers in the United Kingdom. Prospects are looking up even more:

"One trend we have identified is that Mazda customers are very loyal and were…

Mazda Intelligent Braking System i-ELOOP

Following energy-saving technologies such as i-stop and SkyActiv, Mazda will release yet another automotive advancement in the form of an all-new regenerative braking system called Intelligent Energy Loop (i-ELOOP). Unlike pre-existing systems, i-ELOOP makes use of capacitor to store energy and negates the need for a dedicated electric motor and battery.

According to a recent Mazda press release, "In real-world driving conditions with frequent acceleration and braking, 'i-ELOOP' improves fuel economy by approximately 10-percent."1…

All four will find their place in the automotive market by 2014 and will be developed under a new Mazda design language.

A Look at the New Mazda Takeri Concept

Mazda has been working on a new midsize sedan concept.  It's called the Takeri, based largely on the MAZDA6 but has undergone quite a few design changes. New flared front fenders, a seriously aggressive grille, and an exquisitely sculpted rear end offers styling typically found only in the most high end cars.

Unfortunately, official spec surrounding horsepower and torque are still being held captive by the creator of the masterpiece.  However, Putnam Mazda doesn't expect Mazda to keep their secrets for long. They're taking the Takeri to Tokyo for an official unveiling this December. And, reports indicate…

RX-8 Run Ends with Special-Edition Spirit R

Closing out the RX-8 lineup, Mazda will soon release its final special-edition RX-8 Spirit R. Not a whole lot has changed since the last model, but the Spirit R does come with a luxurious new look. Aluminum Metallic, Sparkling Black Mica, and Crystal White Pear Mica color options combined with bronze alloy wheels give the rotary sports car a slightly more lavish appearance. Additional changes in design include red and black, specially made SPIRIT R bucket seats from RECARO.

As far as performance goes, much has remained the same. The four-door, four-seat Mazda RX-8 Spirit R is based on the…
